Barbara Bell MA PGCE is a graduate of Goldsmiths College, University of London and City University, London.  She is an experienced ceramics teacher who was teaching GCSE,A-Level,City & Guilds and Foundation ceramics at St. Austell College in Cornwall until July 2001. Before that she was a ceramics teacher in Higher Education, City & Guilds and Special Needs education at Croydon and Greenwich Colleges in London.

Since her new purpose-built studio was finished in 2002, Barbara has concentrated on developing her own distinctive work (based principally on the rocks and landscape her studio overlooks).

Barbara’s 3-dimensional work is hand-built with stoneware grogged clay, sometimes with paper-fibre additions, these are decorated with terra sigillata slip, burnished and smoke fired or coated with a raku glaze.  She also works with her own recipe of paperclay  to produce flat wall pieces.

All glaze and slip recipes are Barbara’s own, products of a year’s research into clay and glazes during her time at Goldsmiths and Croydon Colleges.
